What is a HypnoBirthing®
Childbirth Educator?
HypnoBirthing® Childbirth Educators are highly qualified birthing professionals who have distinguished themselves through education, experience, motivation, and dedication to the principles and philosophy of HypnoBirthing® and mother-directed birthing. Additionally, each must meet the requirements as set forth by the Executive Board of the HypnoBirthing® Institute. Your close attention to the course evaluation will ensure that this remains so. HypnoBirthing® Classes are taught in a format of five weekly, 2 1/2-hour classes. If you are very near to your birthing time, speak with your local practitioner about making special arrangements for individual classes with you.

Journey Into HypnoBirthing®
I'm a mother of five amazing children, full time realtor, and huge natural birth advocate. I believe that it is every womans birth right to feel empowered, comfortable and calm during pregnancy and birth.
After my first adverse reaction to an epidural in 2001, I began searching for an alternative for my next birth experience. In 2003, while pregnant with my second baby, I learned self-hypnosis techniques during a series of private one on one sessions with a certified hypnotherapist. I was able to have a completely comfortable, unmedicated, fully awake and in control, healthy birth. I was inspired, empowered, and intrigued by all that I was able to learn and implement that year. The relaxation techniques helped me go from stressed to calm and have the natural birth that I had only dreamt of. I immediately felt comfortable, had lots of energy, felt rested, and was up and moving after my baby was born. I continued practicing the self-relaxation throughout the postpartum phase and felt bliss.
For my third pregnancy, I found HypnoBirthing® the Mongan Method class series. The group classes and techniques taught were unique. The biggest difference from my prior teachings was that the material gave me a better understanding of my body and what it was doing throughout the birthing process. I met other pregnant momma friends, and I value those friendships today. The techniques that were taught also provided my partner with a greater understanding of the process and helped him feel more confident in his role. We learned light touch massage, visualization, relaxation & deepening techniques, special breathing, fear releasing, and valuable information on the history of birth and how it has shaped our culture today. Having the tools and techniques from the classes, I found myself more comfortable than ever and proceeded to have three "HypnoBirthing" babies. My labors were all under 2 hours long, unmedicated, onset naturally, pain free, completely comfortable and healthy. I had one HypnoBirth in the hospital and two at home in water with my wonderful midwives. No matter the setting, the relaxation and breathing proved to be invaluable.
I first began teaching the method in 2005 to families in Nevada after completing the HBCE course with Marie "Mickey" Mongan in AZ. What an amazing honor that was to train with the founder. I often think back on her class content and the wisdom she shared.
I recently completed the rigorous process of recertifying with Phyllis Fisher through the official HypnoBirthing® Institute in 2024.
I have lived in TN since 2012 and I look forward to working with future mommas and their partners by introducing HypnoBirthing® into the ever-expanding birthing community.

Where does HypnoBirthing Originate?
HypnoBirthing® – The Mongan Method is the work of Marie F. Mongan, Founder and Creator of the HypnoBirthing® Institute. However, this program is based on philosophies and publications from past pioneers in natural birthing, Dr. Gregory White & Dr. Gantly Dick-Read.
Marie developed the HypnoBirthing Childbirth Education program over 3 decades ago when she saw a need in the birthing industry to return back to an intuitive and calm birth. HypnoBirthing was created to allow a mother’s body to birth the way it was intended, without interruptions and interference.
The program is based on the idea that healthy women experiencing healthy pregnancies without complications can birth without pain or peril, and should be respected in their decision to birth naturally.
Today, HypnoBirthing is recognized as the Gold Standard of Childbirth Education throughout the world, with classes taught in over 46 countries.
HypnoBirthing Educators are required to follow the HypnoBirthing® Institute code of ethics in order to maintain their Gold Seal. This Gold Seal assures families that the information they receive is the most relevant, evidence-based, up-to-date, and follows the HypnoBirthing curriculum guidelines.
